Can you believe it? I am actually going to blog.....(even though I am probably the only one who will read this....)

I have tossed back and forth what to use this blog for because I really do love journaling in my cute journals....but maybe this blog could be a place to talk about some of the 'spiritual musings' I have been having recently. Food for thought type of stuff. So here goes...

I have been reading a lot of books lately about i have been thinking...

What if we are in the midst of another Reformation? What if I am indeed hearing God's call, and his call is one to follow in the footsteps of people like Martin Luther and others who have walked into untred territory in the faith? I don't know why i keep thinking this, and that leads me to believe that God is up to something. God is calling some of us (I hope alot more than just me!!!) to really examine why we do things like we do them.

Wow! Tiffanita has some thoughts! Rock on!

I like what you wrote, and I think this would be an excellent place to "muse", although I make fun of that word in an post last year.

Anyway, I think it might be inherent in each generation to question why some things are done, although I think it skipped the boomers...they frankly weren't a very thoughtful generation as a whole (with notable exceptions) but their "reformation" was the sexual revolution. Thanks guys.

That being said, I think you're on to something, because I do think there is an intensified questioning by many young people (40 and below) in the church. I see it many places, but especially in my church and current denomination (SBC), where the older people (50 and up) in control are tightening the reigns, like they would deal with ornery teenagers, in an effort to maintain control. They're passing laws left and right that have nothing to do with scripture, saying this is how a Christian lives, worships, this is the proper place for God, etc. A lot of us are challenging things we've "known" all our lives, looking for scriptural support and realizing, "hey, that's not in the Bible after all".

In fact, I'd say what's fueling a lot of this reformation to come is that we're actually reading our Bible's, and we're consistently surprised, not by what's not in there, but by what IS in there.

Anyway, I think you're on the right track, and you should keep thinking it out.

At least two people are reading your posts now. It's funnny how the same thoughts are running through other peoples heads. I've been trying to figure out how God want's to use me. I hope it's not to do the same old church thing. The question is what does the new church thing look like? We can't be a tribe of individuals. Which is what I'm afraid we are becoming in this country....
